FAQ
Common Heating Project Questions & Answers
Choosing the right renewable energy system raises important questions. Below are answers to common FAQs about air-to-water heat pumps,s and PV solar systems. Please reach out if you still have a question.
What is a renewable heating system?
A renewable heating system uses natural energy sources such as air and sunlight to heat your home. It reduces carbon emissions and lowers long-term energy bills compared to oil or gas boilers.
Common systems in Ireland include:
Air source heat pumps
PV solar systems
What is the difference between air-to-water and air to air heat pumps?
Air to water heat pumps extract heat from the outside air and transfer it to a water-based system for central heating, underfloor heating, or hot water cylinders. Air to air heat pumps, on the other hand, transfer heat directly to indoor air to provide heating or cooling. Air to water is ideal for whole-house heating, while air to air is suitable for rapid room temperature control and smaller spaces.
Can I access SEAI grants for my heating or renewable energy projects?
SEAI grants are available for qualifying homeowners and businesses in Ireland. As SEAI-approved contractors, we can guide you through the entire grant application process. Typical grants range from €2,400 to €14,500 for heat pump installations, with additional support available for eligible households. We’ll assess your property, confirm your eligibility, and support your SEAI grant application.
Can renewable energy systems reduce my energy bills?
Both heat pumps and solar panel systems reduce reliance on traditional electricity and gas, which can significantly lower energy costs. Heat pumps are highly efficient, often providing three units of heat for every unit of electricity used, while solar panels generate free electricity from sunlight, reducing grid consumption.
Can renewable energy systems be combined with existing heating systems?
Air to water heat pumps and solar panels can be integrated with existing boilers or heating systems to provide hybrid solutions. This allows homeowners or commercial clients to gradually transition to low-carbon energy while maintaining reliable heating and hot water supply.
